An expansion gap is required when fitting wooden floors. Wood itself expands and contracts depending on weather. An expansion gap allows your amazing wooden floors to expand and contract freely by having a small gap between the floor and the perimeter of the wall, this ensures there are no cracks or swelling as time goes on. The gap, typically can be covered by scotia lengths however we’d recomend quadrants as they’re more stylish and add a level of sophistication to your home!

Generally speaking with wood flooring a tongue and groove system is better than click-lock. This because a tongue and groove system allow more flexibility in how the floor is fitted. A click-lock system is usually quicker to fit but if the click-lock mechanism is damaged after fitting it cannot be replaced.
