Luxury Vinyl Flooring (LVT) FAQs

When fitting Luxury Vinyl Tiles a Latex Screed and an application of primer is required. Not only does this level the floor but it also provides a glass finish to the sub floor ensuring you get the highest quality of installation. The latex screed also allows the adhesive to bond tighter to the sub-floor and LVT ensuring it’s a tight seal.

Depending on your chosen floor, we add approx 10-15% for cuts and wastage to the total square meterage. This ensures you receive a high quality installation and we are able to recycle the off cuts sustainably.

Yes, all of the LVT we supply have a durable wear layer that helps to protect a floor from either daily or pets! – We would recommend getting in touch with JJRM for a bespoke recommendation on specific ranges of LVT that have a wear layer of 1mm.

Wood Flooring FAQs

An expansion gap is required when fitting wooden floors. Wood itself expands and contracts depending on weather. An expansion gap allows your amazing wooden floors to expand and contract freely by having a small gap between the floor and the perimeter of the wall, this ensures there are no cracks or swelling as time goes on. The gap, typically can be covered by scotia lengths however we’d recomend quadrants as they’re more stylish and add a level of sophistication to your home!

Wooden floors are prone to scratches and slight damage over time. They may even lose a slight amount of colour.  Get in touch with JJRM to understand how we restore your floors to make them brand new again without having to replace a single plank!

At JJRM we cater towards your needs to recommend an underlay. For example if you require the underlay to boost your underfloor heating we’d recommend Timbermate Excel, the silver vapor barrier enables you to be as efficient as possible  with your underfloor heating.

If you want noise reduction with your underlay why not explore the Tuplex range from Kahrs. Regardless of what you require JJRM will provide a bespoke underlay depending on your needs.

Generally speaking with wood flooring a tongue and groove system is better than click-lock. This because a tongue and groove system allow more flexibility in how the floor is fitted. A click-lock system is usually quicker to fit but if the click-lock mechanism is damaged after fitting it cannot be replaced. JJRM only supplies tongue and groove wooden floors ensuring peace of mind for our customers for warranty purposes.
